The invention concerns a method for determining the position of a phenomenon, relative to a set of N photodetectors, comprising, after digitisation of the signal delivered by each photodetector, the following steps: computing a rough position of the phenomenon; determining the distance of each photodetector relative to the rough position; computing the corrected value of the contribution of each photodetector based on its distance relative to P0; computing the new position P1 based on the corrected contributions of the photodetectors, and of their position. The invention also concerns a device for implementing the method.
