Copolymers comprisePPa) from 1 to 65 mol % of at least one diketene of the general formula I ##STR1## where R.sup.1 and R.sup.2, independently of one another, are each hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C. sub.30 - alkyl,PPb) from 30 to 70 mol % of at least one ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid or one dicarboxylic acid derivative,PP c) from 0.5 to 60 mol % of at least one ethylenically unsaturated hydrocarbon andPPd) up to 20 mol % of at least one further ethylenically unsaturated monomer,P Pmodified copolymers are obtainable by reacting these copolymers with NH-, SH- and/or OH-functional compounds, and the unmodified or modified copolymers are used as additives for mineral oil middle distillates.
