PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently and stably producing high purity succinic acid monoglyceride. ;SOLUTION: This method comprises the following steps: (A) the first liquid-liquid extraction of the resultant reaction mixture, obtained by reacting succinic anhydride or succinic acid with a monoglyceride, by means of both (a1) at least one kind of organic solvents selected from a group consisting of an aliphatic monocarboxzylate, an aliphatic ketone and an aliphatic alcohol all having 4C or more and (a2) water, under the condition of an aqueous phase pH of 7-10. Succinic acid and its monoglyceride are principally extracted into the aqueous phase and unreacted monoglyceride, diglyceride and other oligomers are principally extracted into the organic solvent phase; (B) the second liquid-liquid extraction of the resultant aqueous phase, formed by the first liquid-liquid extraction, by means of (b1) at least one kind of organic solvents selected from a group consisting of an aliphatic monocarboxylate, an aliphatic ketone and an aliphatic alcohol all having 4C or more, at a pH of 1-5.
