PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a mouse embryonic stem cell line free from poly(ADP-ribose) synthase producing activity and useful for the evaluation, development, etc., of carcinostatic agents by inserting an exogenote into both of a gene pair of a poly(ADP-ribose) synthase gene. SOLUTION: The objective mouse embryonic stem cell line contains an exogenote inserted into both of a gene pair of a poly(ADP-ribose) synthase gene (Parp gene). The mouse embryonic stem cell line is produced e.g. by separating a DNA containing the exon part of Parp gene from a mouse and introducing a proper marker gene such as neomycin-resistant gene into the DNA fragment. The cell line is deposited in the name of FERM P-16356.
