PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce stress on a user by reducing a narrowing-down procedure for retrieval candidates according to the analytic results of attached information of the retrieval candidates. ;SOLUTION: A database retrieval part 2 performs retrieval from a database main body 7 under retrieval conditions obtained by a retrieval condition input part 1 from the user to retrieve candidates meeting the retrieval conditions from the database main body 7, a retrieval candidate information analysis part 3 counts and analyzes the number of the retrieval candidates and the kinds of attached information present by the items of the retrieval candidates, and a retrieval condition request part 4 determines items used to narrowing down plural retrieval candidates in such a case and a narrowing-down method, so that a retrieval candidate output part 5 shows the retrieval candidates narrowed down according to the determination to the user.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
