PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently take out output from an engine as power by controlling an exhaust valve so that in a cylinder injection four-cycle gasoline engine, during compression stroke, the exhaust valve opens at a bottom dead center and closes at a point a little before a top dead center. ;SOLUTION: As measures performed in a cylinder injection four-cycle gasoline engine during compression stroke, when a valve which opens at a bottom dead center and closes at a point a little before a top dead center is excessively opened, a valve 1 simultaneously acting as a valve which opens before rotation resistance and closes at the bottom dead center due to over-expansion in an expansion stroke and as an intake valve is provided. A valve 2 simultaneously acting as a valve which opens at the bottom dead center and closes at a point a little before the top dead center and as an intake valve is provided. An ignition plug 3 and fuel injector 4 are placed on a cylinder head. By opening the exhaust valve 1 at the bottom dead center and closing it at a point a little before the top dead center in compression stroke, compression ratio is set less than expansion ratio, and generated energy can be taken out from a crank shaft more efficiently than a prior engine.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
