PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply, quickly, and inexpensively perform an accurately compression strength test for obtaining a measurement result that is equivalent to that of a conventional JIS standard. SOLUTION: In a capping device in a concrete or mortar compression strength testing device consisting of a steel cap member 1 that is made of a flat-plate-shaped press part 2 and an annular part 3 that has an inner diameter being slightly larger than the outer diameter of a sample 4 being formed on the lower surface of the press part 2 and is suspended annularly and a rubber pad material 5 being arranged between the upper surface of the sample 4 and the press part 2 of the above cap member 1, the diameter of the above pad material 5 is the same as the inner diameter of the annular part 3 of the above cap member 1, rubber hardness on initial usage ranges from 65 to 70 degrees, the rubber hardness being measured by a rubber durometer on usage in the amount of reduction within two degrees from the rubber hardness on the initial usage, and repulsion elasticity and density are equal to constant values.
