PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform rental deadline management capable of performing reproducing only during a rental use period. ;SOLUTION: A user selects a disk 74 including desired software information from a number of disks 72 at a rental shop 70. In the disks 72, management information intrinsic to each is recorded. Together with the selected disk 74, the user receives an IC card 76 recording the management information intrinsic to the disk 74 rented by an IC card writing device 78 or rental use deadline information. The user brings the disk 74 and the IC card 76 home, and sets these in a special player 80. The player 80 reproduced the disk 74 within a recorded use deadline.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
