PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare an emulsion contg. silver bromide-rich {111} flat platy particles having high morphological uniformity. ;SOLUTION: When an emulsion contg. silver bromide-rich particles is prepd. in the presence of gelatin as protective colloid in a reactor, a yield of 250 g precipitated silver nitrate per 11 mixture in the reactor is obtd., at least 10% of the total projection area of all particles is provided by {111} flat platy particles having an average aspect ratio of (2:1) and 40.05-0.30 μm average thickness and the ratio between present hexagonal flat platy particles and triangular flat platy crystals is (10:1).;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
