PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote memory access method and a device that eliminate overhead by a page fault detection method at the time of remote memory access and make it possible to efficiently copy/move a remote memory area in a local memory in a distributed shared memory multiprocessor system. ;SOLUTION: When an access to the remote memory of CPUs 11 and 14 is monitored and it is detected that an access to the remote memory frequently occurs in a distributed shared memory multiprocessor system in which each of CPUs 11 and 14 can access local memories 12 and 15 and a remote memory for its own CPU, the number of accesses to the remote memory is reduced by having the contents of the remote memory copied and moved to the local memory of the self CPUs 11 and 14.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
