PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply, quickly and effectively compensate for a nonlinear response at a low cost in the magnetic recording and reproducing device which uses a magnetoresistive sensor type head for a reproducing. ;SOLUTION: Controls are performed for the amount of the asymmetricity in the amplitude values of the reproduced isolated wave signals which are obtained by the reproducing at a magnetoresistive sensor type head 12b and the function which linearizes reproduced isolated wave signals from at least one of the half value width of the reproduced isolated wave signals and the resolution. Then, linearizing means (17 and 15) are provided in which reproduced signals s3 are waveform processed and linearized by the function.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
