INITIALIZATION METHOD THROUGH CHARACTERISTIC BLOCK FOR OBJECT EXTRACTION IN BLOCK MATCHING METHOD ADOPTING GENE ALGORITHM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the initializing method by a characteristic block for object extraction, in a block matching method adopting the gene algorithm. SOLUTION: A characteristic of a macro-block is discriminated in relation to an extracted object (S30). As a result, when a block has no relation to the extracted object such as an A-type block, a dynamic population control scheme DPC is adopted therefor (S32). When the block is related to the extracted object, whether or not the block is overlapped on a contour is discriminated (S34). If the block overlaps the contour, a motion value adjacent to a weight value is used for initialization (S36). When the block does not overlap the contour, an adjacent motion value is used for the initialization (S38).
