PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect sufficiently a power transmission part such as a drive shaft, its joint, etc. ;SOLUTION: A saddle type vehicle for running on an rough terrain is equipped with a power transmission device 13 which couples the output shaft 14 of an engine with the axle 15 of each wheel. Therein a first protection pipe 21 is installed on the side with the engine case 7a while a second protection pipe 25 is installed on the side with the gear case 18 which holds the axle 15, and between the two pipes 21 and 25, a protection cover 26 made of an elastic material with possibility of expanding and contracting is installed so that a consolidated pipe shape is established, and the power transmission device 13 is installed in this pipe shape.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
