ANTIMICROBIAL COMPOSITION AND ANTIMICROBIAL ARTIFICIAL STONE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition having an excellent antimicrobial performance, capable of controlling the duration of the antimicrobial performance and free from the problem of coloration with the passage of time by using zinc-containing amorphous particles as an antimicrobial agent. ;SOLUTION: This composition comprises (A) a curable resin and (B) zinc- containing amorphous particles as an antimicrobial agent. The component A is preferably a polymer syrup containing a (meth)acrylate monomer and a (meth) acrylic polymer. It is preferable that all parts or a part of the component A and the remainder are a semi-cured product and a radically polymerizable resin component, respectively. The component B includes zinc-containing glass particles as a typical example, and preferably has a particle diameter of ≤10 μm. The component B is preferably compounded in an amount of 0.05-5 wt.% per 100 wt.% of the total amount of the components (excluding the component B) in the composition.
