PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antimicrobial agent for tablewares and the like which is harmless to the human body and can carry out an effective antimicrobial treatment by the facile operation such as atomization and the like, and an antimicrobial composition for tablewares and the like containing the antimicrobial agent. ;SOLUTION: The antimicrobial agent for tablewares and cooking utensils is composed of a diglycerol monofatty acid ester containing the monofatty acid ester in the purity of 50 wt.% or more.
