PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To utilize as a resource a glassy product obtained by the melting treatment of municipal refuses. SOLUTION: This method for producing a ceramic lightweight foamed product from municipal refuses comprises subjecting the municipal refuses as a raw material 1 to an incinerating and melting treatment 2 in an oxidative atmosphere or in a reducing atmosphere, cooling and solidifying the product, subjecting the produced massive glassy material 3 to a grinding treatment 5, subjecting the produced powdery material 6 to a granulating treatment 6 to produce the granules having a proper granule diameter or subjecting the produced powdery material 6 to a molding treatment 7 to produce the molded product having a proper shape, and subsequently thermally foaming and calcining the granules or molded product into a ceramic lightweight foamed product 10 in a 300-1,100 deg.C oven.
