PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultraviolet ray emission type low-pressure mercury vapor electric discharge lamp capable of increasing ultraviolet ray output while keeping a compact size and free from ozone smell, and a low-pressure mercury vapor electric discharge lamp unit and fluid sterilizing device using this. SOLUTION: This discharge lamp comprises an airtight vessel 1 consisting of an ultraviolet ray-transmittable material with an outer diameter of 3-12 mm and a total width of less than 30 mm which includes a bent part 1a2 and a straight part 1a1 and can form a curved discharge path in the inner part, a pair of electrodes 2 sealed to both inner ends of the airtight vessel 1, and mercury and rare gas sealed in the airtight vessel 1 made of ozone-less quartz glass. The airtight vessel 1 is provided with pinch seal parts 1b on both ends so that their flat surfaces are substantially parallel to each other, whereby the total width of the lamp can be minimized. This lamp is water-tightly and non-airtightly sealed and housed in an inexpensive general quartz glass protecting tube to constitute a low-pressure mercury vapor electric discharge lamp unit and, further, a fluid sterilizing device can be provided by integrating this unit.
