PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low pressure mercury vapor discharge lamp with amalgam held in a discharge vessel which can prevent breakage caused by impact during manufacturing processes and transportation.;SOLUTION: An ultraviolet lamp 1 includes the discharge vessel with stems 11 fixed on both ends of a discharge tube 10, a cover member 18 arranged inside the discharge vessel, and the amalgam 16. The amalgam 16 is fixed in a recessed part 10a formed on the discharge vessel (the discharge tube 10). The discharge vessel (the discharge tube 10) and the cover member 18 are fixed by thermal welding in a form that does not prevent outflow of amalgam vapor into the discharge vessel.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
