PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve workability by retreating a small diameter cutter head of a large diameter boring machine in an annular large diameter cutter head, and fitting a small diameter boring machine to the space. ;SOLUTION: At execution work, a large diameter tunnel boring machine 1 and a small diameter tunnel boring machine A are propelled up to this side of an arrival completing point. In this case, the boring machine 1 performs excavation by being arranged on the same plane by connecting an annular cutter head 6 to a small diameter cutter head 7. Next, the space part 22 covered with the cutter 6 is formed in front of the cutter 7 by moving the cutter 7 backward while sliding a center shaft 8 by extending a retractable jack 11 by releasing the connection of the cutters 6 and 7 in a joining position. Next, the boring machine A is advanced to be intruded into the space 22, chemicals are injected into the docking part after docking the respective boring machines, the prescribed part such as the body part is welded, and the machine inside is disassembled.
