PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user without having to lock at the document of an original paper when correcting an error that occurs while the original text is converted into a text of an OCR output, also to automatically generate possible correction content, and to allow the user to easily perform the correction by means of it. ;SOLUTION: A user can select an area where a displayed document image exists, because the document image that is a source of an optical character reader(OCR) output is shown. When the area is selected, the text of the OCR output that corresponds to the selected area is produced automatically and is shown together with a set of texts which have possibility for the text in a pop-up menu. The user can replace one of the texts in the OCR output by selecting one of replacement texts in the pop-up menu or making correction by striking keys.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
