PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the feeling of operation quite similar to ordinary page turning operation by discriminating a peculiar waveform or frequency at the time of pinching an input board from side to side with the tip of a finger from the output of an acceleration sensor or impulse sensor and detecting that the input plate is pinched from side to side with the tip of the finger. ;SOLUTION: When the top end of a thin plate PF is pinched with the tip of a finger FI or page turning operation is performed while picking up the top end between two fingers, the thin plate PF is bent and a bending amount is detected by an acceleration sensor AS. The acceleration detected by the acceleration sensor AS is passed through a filter FL so that the waveform or frequency particular for the page turning operation can be discriminated and the direction (forward/backward) and strength of the page turning operation can be extracted. Further, by passing the acceleration through a quantizer CP, it is converted to a page turning command packet PP. A host computer EC interprets the received page turning command packet and performs the page turning operation of book information and the result is displayed on a display DS.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
