METHOD FOR PREDICTING AREA OF LOGIC CIRCUIT AND DEVICE THEREFOR, AND STORAGE MEDIUM FOR STORING AREA PREDICTION PROGRAM OF LOGIC CIRCUIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate the area value of a logic circuit from an HDL(hardware descriptive language) in a short time. ;SOLUTION: The analysis of the syntax of hardware description, in which the logic of a logic circuit is described, is performed by using HDL2 so that an analytic tree 3 can be prepared. The average of area values per one input pin of plural logical blocks included in a target library 1 is calculated so that an area ratio can be obtained. Then, the analytic tree 3 is recognized in a partial circuit for every output, the product of the number of input pins of each partial circuit of the area ratio is calculated so that the area value of the partial circuit can be obtained, and the total sum of each area value of each partial circuit is calculated so that the area value of the logical circuit can be obtained. Thus, it is not necessary to spend a long time on the calculation of the area value by calculating the area value without changing the logical constitution of the analytical tree 3.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
