PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide dictionary retrieving method and device capable of outputting a translated word having the most accurate possibility as a translated word for a word of optional language appearing on a certain text and a storage medium storing a dictionary retrieving program. SOLUTION: When a certain text and a word belonging to language A in the text are specified (S1), an A-B correspondence dictionary to be a data base recording available translated words of language B for respective words of language A is referred to and at least one available translated word of the language B for the given word of the language A is acquired (S2). How many times the acquired translated word appears in the specified text and texts related to the specified text is measured (S3), an evaluation value proportional to the measured appearance frequency of the acquired translated word is calculated (S4), the translated word having the maximum evaluation value is selected (S5), and the selected translated word is outputted as the translated word of the language B for the specified word (S6).
