PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely and economically design a building structure by performing response analysis in a partial space, converting it to the one of the entire space and using a nonlinear term obtained from the equation of motion in the entire space in the response analysis. SOLUTION: At the time of designing the building structure, when initial conditions are inputted, ground motion acceleration t } for each prescribed time span t from earthquake occurrence to end in the partial space of the building structure is obtained by using them, partial space displacement dt } in the partial space of the building structure at each time (t) is calculated and entire space displacement Dt } in the entire space of the building structure is calculated from the value. Also, partial space unbalanced force pt -t } is calculated by using a transformation matrix [Um] from entire space unbalanced force Pt -t } calculated from the equation of the motion in the entire space. Thus, the response analysis at each time (t) is performed in the partial space and unbalanced force which is the nonlinear term is calculated from the equation of the motion in the entire space.
