A socket S for the base-less lamp is provided with a flange portion 12 formed around a lamp support portion 11, a sandwiching means 15 sandwiching a wiring board between the same and the flange portion 12, and a contact piece 14 contacting with the land of the wiring board and made of the metal wire excellent in the elasticity and the conductivity. In the contact piece 14, the external lead-in wire 2 of the base-less lamp 4 is composed of the metal wire excellent in the elasticity and the conductivity so that the contact piece 4 may be formed using the external lead-in wires 2, or the contact piece 4 may be formed different from the external lead-in wire 2. The metal wire can be formed into the contact piece by folding and cutting processes, and can be formed into a point contact or a linear contact so as to obtain good contact.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
