PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the conference method that does not need an additional or exclusive hardware by allowing a telephone terminal to start a telephone conference with two telephone terminals, allowing a microprocessor to process signals from the two telephone terminals, declaring a conference participant signal to be an active talker signal, and sending the signal to other telephone terminals than itself. ;SOLUTION: An activity is declared after detecting a consecutive activity for 8 msec. A method for participation by ports is made after the accurate declaration of the activity. In this method, which active talker is to be participated is decided based on an active time sequence rather than the intensity of the activity. So long as one of two most recent talkers is inactive, a talker that is newly activated cannot enter the conversation. In the case that a talker with priority A and B is inactive, the new talker is ranked up directly to have the priority A and the preceding talker with the priority A is demoted to the priority B.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
