PROTECTION DEVICE OF SELF-EXCITATION TYPE CONVERTER, CONTROL DEVICE OF VARIABLE SPEED GENERATION GENERATOR, AND CONTROL DEVICE OF SELF-QUENCHING-TYPE CONVERTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform gate blocking only for a phase where an overcurrent is generated and to continue gate control for the other phases by independently providing an over-current detection circuit and a gate block circuit for each phase of an inverter. ;SOLUTION: GTO elements 5a and 5b, GTO elements 7a and 7b, and GTO elements 9a and 9b of a self-quenching-type switching element are connected in series between both terminals of a DC power supply 1 for parallel connection. Further, U, V, and W-phase circuits are used, where diodes 6a-10b are connected in parallel with each GTO element with inverse polarity. Further, current detectors 11a-11c and gate pulse block circuits 13a-13c are independently provided for each phase, thus achieving a function for detecting an eddy current and for performing the gate pulse block of only the GTO element of a phase where the overcurrent is generated. As a result, the GTO element of a phase where the overcurrent is generated is protected from the overcurrent.
