PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compounds each having pharmaceutical activity as an antimicrobial agent, antioxidant and antiinflammatory agent. SOLUTION: The new compounds are those expressed by the formula [R1 , R2 and R3 are each methyl, ethyl, methoxy, chlorine, etc.; (n) is 0-3], e.g. 2,6-bis(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethylbenzylidine)-cyclohexanone. The compound of the formula is obtained by stirring a mixture of 1 pt.wt. of cyclohexanone and 1 pt.wt. of an aldehyde in the presence of hydrochloric acid or NaOH as a catalyst at 0-50 deg.C for a specified period of time, leaving the mixture to stand at atmospheric temperature for several days, then, treating the reaction product with acetic acid and water, filtering the treated mixture, finally, purifying the reaction product by recrystallization with ethanol-water.
