PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate panning by suction-digging a sand stratum contg. placer gold in water, transferring the diggings at a desired speed, imparting a gravity- separation means to and and placer gold and panning out the placer gold. ;SOLUTION: Compressed air is supplied to the air pipe 8 of a jet pump 4, the compressed air is blown out of a blowoff hole 6 as shown by the arrow 30, and a mixture of the gravel, sand, soil and water is accelerated in the same direction and moved in direction of the arrow 31 at 3 m/sec, for example. Since the mixture is decelerated in a sorting box 9, the placer gold contained in the mixture is deprived of buoyancy and settled as shown by the arrow 32. Subsequently, the relatively small-grain placer gold is settled in the box 9, and the placer gold is mostly sorted out in the box.
