PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep a solvent type overly sprayed mist from becoming viscous by recovering and emulsifying the excess solvent type coating material mist by booth circulating water containing a surfactant and a hydrophilic organic solvent within specified weight % ranges in a coating booth and making the mixture a diluted coating material solution. SOLUTION: The excess solvent type coating material mist generated at the time of spray coating in a coating booth is recovered and emulsified by booth circulating water containing 0.0001-2.0 wt.% of a nonionic surfactant produced from nonionic linear compound having hydrophobic groups in the main chain and molecular weight of 2,000-3,500 and 0.1-5.0 wt.% of a hydrophilic organic solvent such as butyl cellosolve, butyl diglycol, acetylcarbitol, etc., to give a diluted coating material solution. Consequently, the coating material is reliably prevented from separation, coagulation, and solidification in the circulating water and the overly sprayed mist is kept from becoming viscous.
