PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the processing amount by transmitting a near infrared light and a visible light contiguous thereto when a sucked biological liquid is present at the forward end of a probe and detecting a target substance and then performing analysis while correlating the transmitted light and the target substance. SOLUTION: A liquid sample, e.g. a serum, is collected from a supply body including a primary collecting container 19 in a tray 20 into the forward end part 48 of a probe 46 through suction using a distributing station 18. A partial pressure is generated in the forward end part 48 by means of a pump 71. The forward end part 48 is moved, at first, to a test station 82. Fibrous optical elements 98, 98' are coupled with a spectrophotometer 110 combining a light source and a detector. When the forward end part 48 is located at test station 82, the spectrophotometer 110 analyzes radiation of a near infrared light beam and a visible light beam contiguous thereto transmitted through the forward and part 48 and the liquid therein and a signal from the detector is correlated with the concentration of a target substance. When the target substance is tested at the forward end part 48, total processing amount of an analyzer can be increased significantly.
