PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extinguish an arc directly and reliably, when gas pressure is lowered. ;SOLUTION: In this apparatus P, in the case that a worker carelessly neglects gas pressure decrease parts a movable electrode 7 from a fixed electrode 6 and puts the apparatus P in an opened state, an arc generated between both electrodes 6, 7 immediately after the opening operation is extinguished for example by following means: (1) a means for turning the arc to a current limiting fuse 15, (2) a means for blowing an extinguishing gas to the arc from bellows, (3) a means for shutting the route of the ark by a shielding part, (4) a means for passing the arc to a thin gap arc-extinguishing chamber, and (5) a means for blowing the arc-extinguishing gas to the arc from a gas container.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
