PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine the life of a gas-blast load-break switch by grasping the consumption of a moving contact or a fixed contact of the gas-blast load-break switch. ;SOLUTION: This gas-blast load-break switch has an arc-drive coil 11, which is wound around the outer circumference of an arc-extinguishing cylinder 9, with one end connected to the arc-distinguishing cylinder 9 and another end connected to a fixed electrode 5. The switch is provided with a capacitive potential divider 12 on a fixed contact side, comprising an inside cylinder ring 13 arranged at intervals of an annular space in the outer circumference of the arc-distinguishing cylinder 9, an insulating material 14 fixed to the outer circumference of the inside cylinder ring 13, and an outside cylinder ring 15 fixed to the outer circumference of the insulating material 14, a capacitive potential divider 16 on a moving contact side, comprising an inside cylinder ring 17 arranged with an annular space in the outer circumference of a moving contact 8, an insulating material 18 fixed to the outer circumference of the inside cylinder ring 17, and an outside cylinder ring 19 fixed to the outer circumference on the inside cylinder ring, and a voltage-detecting device 20 for detecting arc voltage from the capacitive potential divider on the moving contact side and the capacitive potential divider on the fixed contact side.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
