PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically select a software necessary for operation and to efficiently install the selected software in a computer of which disk capacity is limited. ;SOLUTION: In a test computer 1, a software using information acquiring means 12 measures the using frequency of software components 11-1 to 11-j and records the measured results in a software using information storing medium 13 as software using information. An automatic software selecting/installing means 21-m in a practical computer 2-m installs software packages 3-1 to 3-j in a disk device 2-m2 within a range less than the capacity of the disk device 2-m2 in the using frequency order of the packages 3-1 to 3-j which is indicated by the software using information stored in the medium 13.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
