PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cladding-by-welding metal for aluminum or aluminum alloy which is capable of preventing defective welding such as pit and blowhole and excellent in weldability with aluminum, and a composite wire for cladding by welding. ;SOLUTION: The cladding-by-welding metal 2 is obtained by using a composite wire for cladding by welding in which the core consisting of aluminum alloy containing manganese is filled in a shell consisting of titanium or titanium alloy, and formed of the single phase structure of only γ phase (TiAl intermetallic compound) or the mixed structure of the γ phase and the α2 phase (Ti3Al intermetallic compound). In the composite wire for cladding by welding of aluminum cur aluminum alloy where the core is filled in the metallic shell, the metallic shell consists of titanium or titanium alloy, the core consists of aluminum alloy containing manganese, the Ti content relative to the total weight of the welding wire is 40-90 wt.%, and the Mn content for the welding wire is 1-5 wt.%.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
