PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a postal item address information processing apparatus capable of effectively utilizing the information on postal items and drastically decreasing the input operations by an operator. ;SOLUTION: This apparatus has a recognizing means which recognizes the address information from the information on the postal item read by a reading means, an input section 45 which inputs the address information of the postal items by referencing the information on the postal items not recognized of the address information in this recognizing means, a setting file 73 which stores the address information of the postal items and a program control section 72 which compares the address information of the postal items inputted by the input section 45 and the address information of the postal items stored in the setting file 73 and executes the processing to add the address information inputted by the input section 45 to the address information of the setting file 73 when the inputted address information is not stored.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
