Automatic extracting manner null of the internal organs

PURPOSE:To extract the outlines of internal orgrans with high reliability without losing information important for diagnosis in an image-picked up image. CONSTITUTION:An operator inputs and designates plural outline points in a first image. The cencer point of the first image is calculated based on the inputted outline points, and scanning lines are set in a radial form. Outline candidate points on the respective scanning lines are extracted. The combination of the outline candidate points of the respective scanning lines is evaluated by using a characteristic that the outlines of internal organs are smooth with the inputted outline points as key information, and the optimum combination of the outline candidate points is selected. The combination of the outline candidate points on the second and subsequent images are evaluated by using the characteristic that the outline point of the picked up image is approdximated to the outline point of the picked up image which is timewisely and locationally approximated and the outlines of the internal organs are smooth. Then, the oprimum combination of the outline candidate points is selected.
