PURPOSE: To provide the method and the device in which high quality repeated waveforms are rapidly and simply generated. CONSTITUTION: The device consists of an address computer 1 which computes the addresses of repeated waveforms that are generated in accordance with the changes in length widths, a loop processor 2 which generates cross faded repeated waveforms based on the output of the computer 1, a correlation coefficient computer 3 which computes the correlation coefficients of each repeated waveform generated by the processor 2 and the waveforms of the same section of the original waveforms, a peak detector 4 which detects the peaks of the correlation coefficients computed by the computer 3, a selector 5 which selects the prescribed number of waveforms from the output of the detector 4 in the order of higher degrees of correlation and a display 6 which displays the selected results.
