PURPOSE: To improve setting/releasing operation efficiency of a medium protector with a simple constitution by operating the protector for protecting the write data in a medium such as a floppy disk, etc., by using a press member and a protector operation member. ;CONSTITUTION: The protector 12 preventing that the write data are destroyed by rewrite, is provided on the medium 11 such as the floppy disk, etc. The protector 12 is slidden and moved by the operation member 13 of which part engaging with the press member 14 and the protector 12 is made of a high friction substance in a rod shape or a block shape, and the protector 12 is made to be in a protector release state or a protector setting state.
