PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a headup display for automobile capable of reducing the distortion of the virtual image of an observed object based on a difference between the curvature in a horizontal direction and that in a vertical direction of a windshield and visually confirming the virtual image and a front landscape nearly at the same time. ;SOLUTION: Picture display light L emitted from a display unit 3 is reflected by a combiner 2' constituted of at least one part of the windshield 2, so that the virtual image of the observed object is formed. The curvature in the horizontal direction and that in the longitudinal direction of a reflection surface on the indoor side surface of the combiner 2' differ from each other. In an optical system 4, the distortion of the virtual image based on the difference between the curvature in the horizontal direction and that in the vertical direction of the reflection surface of the combiner 2' is reduced.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
