PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily insert a coated optical fiber into a long-sized sheath and to inexpensively obtain an optical fiber cable by previously inserting a wire for introducing an optical fiber into the sheath into the sheath for the optical fiber cattle. ;SOLUTION: The sheath 1 for the optical fiber cable consists of an inner sheath 2 and an outer sheath 3. The wire 5 is inserted into the inner space 4 of the inner sheath 2. The inner sheath 2 is constituted by spirally and continuously winding a belt-like metal. The outer sheath 3 is formed by extruding a resin, such as urethane or polyurethane, to the outer side of the inner sheath 2. A metallic wire or a resin wire, etc., such as kevlar wire, is used for the wire 5. The insertion of the optical fiber 6 into the sheath 1 is executed by binding the wire 5 to one end of the optical fiber 6 and pulling the wire 5 from the sheath 1.
