This paper analyzed the influence of cable sheath post shrinkage of polyethylene(PE) for access network cable and discussed the factors that affect sheath post shrinkage from the material properties, cable structure, mold fitting way, production process and so on. A. The influence of PE sheath shrinkage PE sheath post shrinkage caused the change of cable physical length, fiber excess length, and attenuation date. B. The factors of PE sheath shrinkage 1) Material properties: analyzed the effects of the material density and the melt flow rate; 2) Cable structure: studied the influence of three structures: a support between the cable core and sheath; a support in the outer sheath; a flexible support between the cable core and sheath; 3) Mold fitting way: investigated the influence of the extrusion mold and tube extrusion mold; 4) Production process: discussed the production speed, the tank temperature.
