PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition capable of suppressing the increase in the viscosity of various dispersions when used as a colorant therefor such as gravure inks, and high in heat resistance and bleed resistance, by incorporating an azo lake pigment with an iron salt and/or nickel salt. ;SOLUTION: This composition comprises (A) 100 pts.wt. of an azo like pigment and (B) pref. 0.3-20 pts.wt., on an iron and/or nickel basis, of an iron salt and/or nickel salt, and is obtained, pref. by incorporating a slurry of the component A with pref. 0.5-30 pts.wt. of the water-soluble component B (e.g. ferrous chloride and/or nickel sulfate) followed by agitation; wherein the component B is normally incorporated in the form of an aqueous solution. After incorporation of the component B followed by agitation, an azo pigment formed is separated from the slurry and pigmented to afford the objective composition.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
