Tomato grafting method and thereby the resulting seedlings

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a tomato seedling capable of preventing its bacterial wilt disease and root rot wilt disease and capable of giving tomatoes excellent in taste by using a tomato as a scion and TORUBAMU BIGA having been used as a stock for eggplant as the stock of the tomato seedling. SOLUTION: A tomato is used as a scion, and TORUBAMU BIGA, a line of Solanaceae plant, Solanum TORUBAMU, having been used as a stock for eggplant is used as a stock. A grafting method is e.g. a cleft grafting method. The TORUBAMU BIGA having 6-7 true leaves and a stem diameter of 5-6 mm and the scion having 4-5 true leaves and a stem diameter of about 4 mm are suitable for the grafting. The grafted seedling is preferably sufficiently watered and shaded for 3-4 days under conditions comprising a soil temperature of about 25 deg.C, an air temperature of 20-25 deg.C and a humidity of about 90% to stimulate the rooting of the grafted seedling.
