PURPOSE: To provide a method for accurately measuring ion concentrations, etc., in a cell, which contribute to cell functions, without being affected by interaction among various components in the cell. ;CONSTITUTION: A fluorescent probe reagent is introduced into a cell and the intensity of fluorescence caused by application of exciting light of three wavelengths to the cell is measured. Next, an equilibrium reaction formula concerning the concentrations of the fluorescent probe reagent, proteins, free ions and their complexes present in the cell and a relational expression showing the relation between the concentrations of the fluorescent probe reagent, the proteins, the free ions and their complexes, and the fluorescent intensity, are made to be simultaneously satisfied so as to calculate the concentration of each component. This method makes it possible to accurately calculate ion concentrations by correcting interaction due to bonding of the various components in the cell.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
