PURPOSE:To improve quality of a product, by employing as a heating medium a mixed solution comprising water and either an organic liquid having b.p. higher than 100 deg.C or a water- miscible organic liquid having b.p. higher than 100 deg.C. CONSTITUTION:As heating medium M in a water-phase polymerization for acrylic resin or other bulk polymerization resin boards, a mixed solution comprising water and either an organic liquid having b.p. higher than 100 deg.C or a water-miscible organic liquid having b.p. higher than 100 deg.C is employed in place of water and normal pressure steam employed in a conventional process. Polymerization and a heat treatment process are performed while preventing a leak of the heating medium M by insulating a space between the heating medium M and an outer fringe part of a template by making use of a heat-resistant elastic sealing material 8. Therefore, a polymerization process and the heat treatment process thereafter can be carried out continuously. With this construction, not only workability but also a quality of a product are improved. When especially a space between confronting fringes is assembled with a plurality of cell sets 6 comprised of two glass plates 2, 2' sealed with a heat-resistant elastic sealing material 8 and when the heating medium M whose temperature is controlled appropriately is caused to flow back within the cell set 6, productivity is raised drastically and control of a reaction temperature and heat treatment temperature becomes easy.
