PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily pick up an image without stopping operating the static image of an image pickup object and without causing any shaking by measuring data expressing the geometric features of the image pickup object through arithmetic processing based on digital data for each of respective parallelly outputted pixel streams. ;SOLUTION: Based on the digital data converted by an A/D converting part 10, an arithmetic processing part 3 extracts the contour of the image pickup object through a 1st processing part 11 and sets the position of these extracted contour data through an address data generating part 12. Based on these set address data of a contour point, measured values expressing the geometric features of the image pickup object such as the area, width an centroid are operate at high speed by a 2nd processing part 13. On the other hand, a control command from an external device 5 is transferred through a 3rd processing part 5 as an interface to the processing part 13 and data expressing the executed result of the control command from the 2nd processing part 13 are transferred to the external device 5.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
