PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable accurate butting splicing while mechanizing main works and stick a jointing tape on both surfaces without upsetting two webs. ;SOLUTION: Both front and rear parts of each cut scheduled spot of two lapped new and old webs W1 and W2 are held between both web holders 2 and 3, and both these webs are cut off at the cut scheduled spot, and each unwanted part of both these webs is eliminated as aspiratedly holding a rear end edge of the old web W1 and a tip edge of the new web W2 with each suction surface of these web holders 2 and 3, a jointing tape T is stuck to the other side surface as aspiratedly holding one-way side of the rear end edge of the old web W2 and the tip end edge of the new web W1 by means of the suction surface of the web holder 3. The jointing tape T stuck to the other direction side of these webs W1 and W2 is further stuck to the one way side of both these webs as aspiratedly holding it with the suction surface of a tape holder 5. Sticking operations of both these jointing tapes T and T to these webs are carried out in a state that each jointing tape T is stuck to each suction surface of these tape holders 5 and 6 by suction force.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
