PURPOSE:To provide a novel thermophile, Bacillus.S.P, which can grow at relatively high temperature, does not cause any gelatin liquefaction, does not hydrolyze starch and produces L-lactic acid dehydrogenase. CONSTITUTION:A thermophile, Bacillus.S.P TP626 (FERM 10450), which can grow at a relatively high temperature such as 50-70 deg.C, does not cause any gelatin liquifaction, does not hydrolyze starch and produces L-lactic acid dehydrogenase was found out as a result of an examination for finding out a L-lactic acid dehydrogenase originated from a thermophile. The isolation of a complex plasmid pTCl containing a L-lactic acid dehydrogenase gene originated from the bacterium stain and a genetic recombination using the gene permits to massively produce the L-lactic acid dehydrogenase.
