HAMMER FOR PIANO AND ITS MANUFACTURE, AND PIANO

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the tip part of a hammer wood from deforming when felts are fitted to the tip side. ;SOLUTION: When the hammer felts 10 and 12 are wound in with a strong force, large pressure is applied to the tip part 8, but the tip part 8 of a composite material 6 for the hammer wood neither curves nor breaks even if the tip part 8 is thinner than a base part 9 since the tip part is formed of maple lumber plywood 4 having higher density than the base part 9. Therefore, the yield of the manufacture can be improved. Further, the whole hammer wood is not made of the maple lumber plywood having the high density, but uses the high- density maple lumber plywood partially only at the tip part 8 which is formed thinnly, so nearly no influence is exerted on string striking characteristics of a hammer using the hammer wood. Therefore, a piano having this hammer incorporated can have the same characteristics as usual.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
